Arbitration is where parties to a dispute agree to resolve it outside of court. The parties hire a third person, usually a retired judge, and their agreement determines the rules of how the arbitrator makes his or her decision. Our lawyers have prevailed in numerous arbitration proceedings in a broad range of disputes such as contracts, business dissolutions, employment, civil rights, and construction.

Receivership Law

Receiverships have drawn attention in these challenging economic times as one of the legal alternatives for creditors or victims of financial wrongdoing. Receivership is taking a business and having a court put it into the hands of a person (a “receiver”) to administer, conserve, rehabilitate, or liquidate the assets of the business for the benefit of creditors. Receivers are judicially-appointed managers. They completely displace a company management sued by creditors. Once appointed, receivers make all business decisions—negotiating contracts, spending corporate funds, controlling hiring and firing, and other commercial actions.

Having worked with numerous business owners and mortgage lenders our firm’s expertise in business and mortgage law has allowed us to successfully represent clients in various high profile receiverships. Our lawyers are familiar with the written law regarding receiverships, the unique procedural rules, and how to preserve the interests of all parties in a cost effective manner.
